MOSCOW: Russian nuclear-capable bombers performed a “scheduled” flight over the Norwegian and Barents Seas, prompting “fighter jets of international international locations” to escort them, Russia’s Defence Ministry stated on Thursday (Dec 25), in line with Russian information companies.

Neither the date of the Tu-95 flights nor the international locations that deployed monitoring plane had been specified.

“Russian Tu-95MS strategic bombers and missile carriers carried out a scheduled flight over the impartial waters of the Barents and Norwegian Seas,” the ministry stated, referring to our bodies of water north of Scandinavia and northwest of Russia.

“At sure phases of the route, long-range bombers had been escorted by fighter jets of international international locations,” it added.

The ministry stated that such flights recurrently happen in lots of areas and are in accordance with worldwide regulation.

Earlier this month, South Korea and Japan criticised Russian and Chinese language navy plane flights close to their territories, which led them to scramble fighter jets.

In response to Tokyo, two Russian Tu-95 bombers flew from the Sea of Japan to rendezvous with two Chinese language H-6 bombers within the East China Sea, then performed a joint flight across the nation.
