SINGAPORE: After days of blended alerts, the United States joined in the Israel-Iran war, sending air strikes – together with the usage of bunker-busting bombs – on Iranian nuclear amenities on Sunday (Jun 22). Because the world waits for what comes subsequent, the strikes will probably first kick off a battle of narratives.

In his televised tackle, US President Donald Trump celebrated the strikes as “a spectacular military success”, even whether it is unclear what which means and regardless of US intelligence and the Worldwide Atomic Vitality Company’s (IAEA) assessments that Iran was not creating nuclear weapons.

Saying his Director of Nationwide Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard was “fallacious”, Mr Trump echoed Israeli claims that Iran was months, if not weeks, away from possessing nuclear weapons.

On Saturday, earlier than the strikes, Ms Gabbard tried to reword her place saying that Iran “can produce a nuclear weapon inside weeks to months, in the event that they determine to finalise meeting” in a submit on X, and that her testimony to the US Congress – that the intelligence group “continues to evaluate that Iran is just not constructing a nuclear weapon” – had been taken out of context.

Mr Trump’s dismissal of the US intelligence evaluation raises questions on who the president listens to: the US intelligence group or Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
