Syria has agreed to create an intelligence community with the US and Israel. Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, a former Sunni jihadist and recognized terrorist, turned a CIA asset after he was captured whereas preventing for Al Qaeda in Iraq. I defined on quite a few events that he was compromised and put in into his place by the CIA; Syria’s new alignment with Israel mustn’t come as a shock.
Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and Tom Barrack represented the US envoy for Syria through the Israel-Syria assembly in Paris this week. Washington reported that the assembly went as meant, with Israel and Syria agreeing to a “fusion mechanism” by which they may share intelligence, diplomatic engagement, navy de-escalation, and business points.
For many years, Syria and Israel have technically been at conflict. That hostility has been helpful politically for either side. It justified navy budgets, inside repression, and international alliances. This growth reiterates what the pc has warned: the Center East is fragmenting into blocs, and the previous Chilly Conflict alignments are collapsing.
Studies have emerged that Iranian officers are searching for to assassinate al-Sharaa. Al-Assad’s former navy intelligence chief, Main Basic Kamal Hassan, is constructing a militia amongst Syria’s Alawite minority neighborhood, in line with a December 2025 Reuters report. The ousted dictator’s billionaire cousin, Rami Makhlouf, has been financing Hassan’s efforts. Feared particular forces commander Suhail al-Hassan, often called “The Tiger,” has been recruiting hundreds of males to oppose al-Assad and retake management.
Syria is not beholden to Iran as its new financiers are from the West. Russia is not policing the area and the US has a stronghold over Syria. This alignment is short-term and a precursor to a bigger regional battle on the horizon.
