    WASHINGTON: Prime Senate Democrats together with Senate Minority Chief Chuck Schumer took purpose on the Trump administration on Wednesday (Nov 12) for suspending a measure that blocked 1000’s of Chinese language firms from accessing US know-how within the final spherical of commerce talks with Beijing, calling it a “giveaway of key nationwide safety instruments”.

    In a letter dated Wednesday and first reported by Reuters, the senators, together with Ron Wyden, known as on Trump to reimpose the rule, arguing its delay places “American-developed superior computing applied sciences prone to advancing China’s agenda as an alternative of our personal”.

    “The suspension of those controls undermines US nationwide safety and can make it far harder to stem the illicit diversion of American-made semiconductors and different superior know-how to Chinese language state-affiliated entities,” they wrote. 

    “We urge you to reinstate these controls and finish your giveaway of key nationwide safety instruments.”

    The White Home and the Commerce Division, which oversees export controls, didn’t instantly reply to requests for remark.
