The Toronto Blue Jays will open the season with out right-hander Trey Yesavage, who’s coping with a proper shoulder impingement.

According to Sportsnet’s Arden Zwelling, Yesavage reported to spring coaching with the difficulty, which led to his gradual build-up to the common season.

Yesavage is feeling advantageous now and threw 35 pitches in a minor league outing on Monday. He’s scheduled to throw once more on March 25. There isn’t any timeline for his return to pitch in video games, because the Blue Jays start the common season on March 27 towards the Athletics.

Yesavage, 22, spent almost all of 2025 within the minors, the place he posted a 5-1 report and struck out 160 in 98 innings. Within the majors final season, he made three appearances, posting a 1-0 report and three.21 ERA.

Within the World Sequence towards the Los Angeles Dodgers, Yesavage was dominant, putting out 17 in 12.2 innings over three appearances.

The Blue Jays’ rotation is OK with Trey Yesavage on the injured listing

Toronto’s beginning rotation is coping with accidents. Proper-hander Jose Berrios has irritation in his proper elbow, and right-hander Bowden Francis will miss the 2026 season after present process Tommy John surgical procedure.

Regardless of that, the Blue Jays have the depth wanted to fill these innings. Left-hander Eric Lauer and right-hander Max Scherzer, a future Corridor of Famer, will fill in.

Lauer’s terrible spring — an 8.64 ERA and eight earned runs in 4 begins (8.1 innings) — hasn’t appeared to have an effect on his spot within the rotation. Scherzer has been nice in two begins, permitting no runs and putting out six.
