WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump will take into account restoring support to Ukraine if peace talks are organized and confidence-building measures are taken, White Home nationwide safety adviser Mike Waltz stated on Wednesday (Mar 5).

Trump halted military aid to Ukraine on Monday, his newest transfer to reconfigure US coverage and undertake a extra conciliatory stance towards Russia. Trump stated on Tuesday evening he had obtained a letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that expressed willingness to return to the negotiating desk.

Waltz stated the letter was a “good, optimistic first step”. Officers have been in discussions over a date, location and negotiating crew that might result in an finish to the struggle, he stated.

“We’re already speaking about confidence-building measures that we’ll then take to the Russians and take a look at that facet,” he stated in an interview with the “Fox & Pals” programme.

Waltz didn’t say what the confidence-building measures could be.
