    WASHINGTON: Donald Trump will maintain talks with China’s Xi Jinping through the upcoming APEC summit in South Korea, the US president stated in a Fox interview excerpt launched Friday (Oct 17).

    “We’ll meet in a few weeks. We’ll meet in South Korea, really with the President Xi and different individuals, too,” Trump stated in an interview with Fox Information present Sunday Morning Futures.

    “Now we have a separate assembly,” he added.

    The APEC summit will happen Oct 31 to Nov 1 within the South Korean metropolis of Gyeongju.

    Trump had threatened to scrap the assembly as he raised the stakes in his commerce battle with China, warning that he would impose 100 per cent tariffs on items from the world’s second-biggest financial system.

    He issued the tariff menace in response to what he known as “terribly aggressive” new Chinese export curbs on rare-earth minerals.

    Inventory markets slid on the announcement and Trump then struck a conciliatory tone, saying in a social media publish “The usA. desires to assist China, not damage it!!!”

    The assembly can be the primary encounter between the leaders since Trump returned to energy in January.
