    KUALA LUMPUR: The US will “stoutly defend its pursuits”, Protection Secretary Pete Hegseth advised Chinese language counterpart Dong Jun throughout a gathering on Friday (Oct 31) in Kuala Lumpur, flagging the significance of sustaining a stability of energy within the area.

    The assembly, following a September teleconference, was the most recent signal of regularly enhancing defence communication between the 2 sides, amid roiling regional rigidity and elevated navy deployments throughout East Asia.

    Hegseth advised the Chinese language minister of nationwide defence that the US was involved about China’s actions within the disputed South China Sea and round Taiwan, he mentioned in a put up on X that described their assembly as “good and constructive”.

    “We’ll proceed discussions with the Folks’s Liberation Military on issues of mutual significance,” he wrote after they met on the sidelines of a gathering of ASEAN defence ministers within the Malaysian capital.

    “The US doesn’t search battle,” he added. “It is going to proceed to stoutly defend its pursuits and guarantee it has the capabilities within the area to take action.”
