A considerably shocking title has emerged as a possible candidate for the Michigan Wolverines‘ soccer head-coaching job.

Kyle Whittingham, who’s stepping down as Utah head coach on the finish of the season, has expressed curiosity within the Michigan job, according to Andrew Birkle, Marlowe Alter and Tony Garcia of the Detroit Free Press.

Notably, the report doesn’t explicitly say the curiosity is mutual. Whereas Whittingham has immense expertise, he would appear to be a protracted shot for the job. The 66-year-old would not likely be a long-term choice, and given the turmoil this system is in proper now, the college may need somebody who isn’t essentially nearing retirement.

Whittingham went 177-88 in 22 seasons with Utah, together with an undefeated season in 2008. His groups haven’t been fairly as profitable since, however the Utes are coming off a 10-win marketing campaign this season. There are questions, nevertheless, about whether he stepped down by choice or whether or not the college nudged him out the door.

Michigan is in search of a substitute for Sherrone Moore, who was fired on Dec. 10. One coach is rumored to be the Wolverines’ most popular candidate, however thus far, he has yet to give any indication that he desires the job.
