GENEVA: The world should act instantly to halt the “horrific atrocities” in Sudan’s El-Fasher, the UN rights chief instructed AFP Monday (Nov 10), urging nations to not wait till a “genocide” was declared.
The paramilitary Fast Assist Forces (RSF), which has been at struggle with the common military since April 2023, captured the final navy stronghold in western Darfur on October 26.
Since El-Fasher’s takeover after a gruelling 18-month siege, the United Nations and rights displays have reported widespread atrocities, together with ethnically-driven killings and abductions.
