New York Yankees followers weren’t pleased with Aaron Boone for a call he made Tuesday in his workforce’s postseason opener.
Yankees ace Max Fried was stellar towards the Boston Red Sox in Recreation 1 of their wild-card collection in entrance of a packed crowd at Yankee Stadium within the Bronx, N.Y. The 31-year-old threw six scoreless innings on 99 pitches.
With the Yankees nursing a 1-0 lead, Boone made the choice to maintain the left-handed Fried within the recreation to start out the seventh inning towards left-handed hitter Jarren Duran. Fried received Duran to floor out in three pitches.
Boone pulled Fried after his 102nd pitch and inserted reliever Luke Weaver to shut the seventh. The transfer was the start of the tip for New York, as Weaver instantly gave up a stroll and a double to Ceddanne Rafaela and Nick Sogard, respectively. Masataka Yoshida gave Boston a 2-1 lead with a two-RBI single on Weaver’s tenth pitch of the sport.
