    A PlayStation Community outage which left some avid gamers unable to play digital video games for hours has been resolved.

    In line with Down Detector, which tracks outages, tens of thousands of people reported problems globally, external with the service on Friday.

    The outage, which affected avid gamers’ skill to launch video games, apps or community options on their PlayStation, prompted some to spotlight their considerations round Sony’s plans to no longer release new PlayStation games on discs from January 2028.

    By Friday night, all affected providers had been up and operating, according to Sony’s status page, external.

    The BBC has approached PlayStation for remark.

    “Cannot play digital video games until you repair it. But I can put my disc in and play. The all digital future appears nice,” learn one comment on X, external earlier on Friday.
