Re: “Sodo housing plan rebuked by Port of Seattle moves forward” (Feb. 27, Native Information):

Seattle Metropolis Council can add 1,000 new housing items a number of blocks away from my neighborhood of Pioneer Sq.. The proposal for a Stadium Makers’ District, which features a 50/50 break up of reasonably priced and market-rate housing, together with workspace for small-business makers and artisans, is up for a vote on March 18. I encourage Metropolis Council and Seattleites in every single place to assist it.

Seattle must construct extra housing — and positively extra workforce housing. We merely don’t have sufficient reasonably priced housing to permit for center incomes to stay right here. The Stadium Makers’ District is the place. This is a chance to ensure affordability with out use of public funds — and it’s the fitting factor to do for Seattle’s working class.

In Pioneer Sq., we constructed our neighborhood when there was little right here, and I need that for the Stadium Makers’ District, too. This plan for mixed-income housing and accessible workspaces will construct an energetic and vibrant neighborhood. Individuals who wish to stay in Seattle would love a spot like this — with entry to transit, communities like Pioneer Sq. and the Chinatown Worldwide District, and a singular neighborhood of inventive makers.

    Sure, in my yard.

Tija Petrovich, Seattle, neighborhood consultant for Pioneer Sq.
