    WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump hailed a “complete reset” in US-China commerce relations, ahead of a second day of talks on Sunday (Might 11) between high officers from Washington and Beijing geared toward de-escalating commerce tensions sparked by his aggressive tariff rollout.

    In a Fact Social publish early Sunday, Trump praised the “excellent” discussions and deemed them “a complete reset negotiated in a pleasant, however constructive, method”.

    Trump added: “We need to see, for the nice of each China and the US, a gap up of China to American enterprise. GREAT PROGRESS MADE!!!”

    He didn’t elaborate on the progress.

    The second day of closed-door conferences between US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Consultant Jamieson Greer and Chinese language Vice Premier He Lifeng is because of restart within the morning, based on a person aware of the talks who was not authorised to talk publicly.

    “These talks mirror that the present state of the commerce relations with these extraordinarily excessive tariffs is finally within the pursuits of neither america nor China,” Citigroup international chief economist Nathan Sheets instructed AFP.

    The discussions are the primary time senior officers from the world’s two largest economies have met face-to-face to sort out the thorny subject of commerce since Trump slapped steep new levies on China final month, sparking strong retaliation from Beijing.
