TOKYO: Japanese and Australian ministers met Friday (Sep 5) in Tokyo and agreed to deepen defence ties, days after Beijing hosted a massive military parade.

Japan is strengthening cooperation with US allies within the Asia-Pacific area that, like Tokyo, are concerned in territorial disputes with China.

The bilateral assembly of overseas and defence ministers follows the Beijing army parade which was attended by leaders together with Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un.

Analysts say the line-up was Chinese language President Xi Jinping’s imaginative and prescient of a brand new world order, sidelining america.

“Reaffirming the significance of working collectively to forestall unilateral modifications to the established order by power, we agreed to strengthen cooperation,” Japanese defence minister Gen Nakatani mentioned after the Tokyo talks.

“Moreover, we reconfirmed the strengthening of cooperation with the Philippines, India, South Korea, ASEAN, Pacific international locations, and others,” Nakatani instructed journalists.

Public broadcaster NHK mentioned the 2 international locations agreed to conduct superior coaching between their militaries, and improve collaboration in financial safety areas equivalent to vital minerals and power.
