    Phoenix Suns proprietor Mat Isbhia announced on Monday that former star level guard Steve Nash is “formally becoming a member of” the franchise as a senior advisor forward of the 2025-26 season.

    Marc Stein reported in April that Nash was being hired by Amazon Prime Video to be an analyst for its first season as an NBA broadcast companion.

    Regardless of his longtime ties to the Suns and his head teaching expertise with Brooklyn, Nash reportedly wasn’t within the Suns’ head teaching job this spring, a place that finally went to veteran assistant Jordan Ott. However Nash may have one other basketball-related function with the group the place he loved his most success as a participant.

    Throughout his 10 years in Phoenix, Nash received back-to-back MVP awards in 2005 and 2006 and completed second in voting 2007. The 6’3″ Canadian was named first-team All-NBA three straight years, had a pair of second groups nods, made six All-Star appearances and received 5 assists titles.

    Nash, 51, was inducted into the Basketball Corridor of Fame in 2018.

    Advisors usually have much less formal (and fewer hectic) roles than coaches, so it’s not stunning that Nash determined to tackle this new enterprise, notably since he stated final 12 months that he didn’t intend to proceed teaching and was focused on spending time together with his household.

    Nash, who performed his school ball at Santa Clara and had NBA stints with the Mavericks and Lakers, compiled a 94-67 (.584) file in two-plus common seasons as Brooklyn’s coach with a 7-9 (.438) mark within the postseason. He was fired following a 2-5 begin to the 2022-23 season.

    Nash was a part-time guide with the Warriors earlier than touchdown the Nets job. He additionally interviewed for the Raptors’ head teaching place in 2023.
