Many thought the Cleveland Browns made a mistake by naming Deshaun Watson their beginning quarterback. He confirmed why on the staff’s opening drive in Week 1.

Deshaun Watson shortly threw an interception in Week 1

The Jacksonville Jaguars hosted the Browns in Week 1. Cleveland possessed the ball first. On the fifth play of the Browns’ opening drive, Watson threw an interception to linebacker Foyesade Oluokun, who returned it 22 yards to the Jacksonville 41-yard line.

Watson’s move was meant for huge receiver Jerry Jeudy. The choose was on the QB. He appeared to telegraph his move, permitting the LB to leap in entrance of it.

The choose was Watson’s first of the 2025 season, and it most likely will not be his final. Coming into Sunday, he had thrown 12 interceptions on 557 move makes an attempt since 2022. That equates to a 2.2 p.c interception charge, which is abysmal. That is one in all a number of causes it was thought of a horrible resolution for the Browns to call him QB1 over second-year passer Shedeur Sanders.
