Re: “State should offer people with disabilities dignity, choice” (Dec. 18, Opinion):

My husband and I’ve reached our 70s, and for all of our daughter’s life, our important concern has been what’s going to occur to her after we die. This can be a chorus we have now shared with many mother and father of youngsters with disabilities.

Stacy Dym’s op-ed advocates for look after disabled residents. Fortunately, after a few years, the Washington State Division of Social and Well being Providers has lately supplied our daughter with a brand new house that permits her to reside independently in the neighborhood. My husband and I are very grateful for the care and help she receives in her new house.

It’s my want that every one those that want these companies will have the ability to obtain them. State of Washington, please present these companies to those that want them. They not solely help the person, however strengthen our whole neighborhood.

    Jan Thomas, Seattle
