At the least 10 individuals had been killed and greater than 30 others injured after a truck drove into a big crowd in New Orleans early Wednesday morning (Jan 1).

NOLA Prepared, town’s emergency preparedness company, stated the “mass casualty incident” occurred at about 3.15am (5.15pm Singapore time) on Canal Road and Bourbon Road.

It urged individuals to “get your self away from the world”. Those that had been injured had been taken to 5 hospitals.

US media shops, citing unnamed legislation enforcement officers, stated the suspect has died.

    “HELL-BENT ON CREATING CARNAGE”

The driving force had tried to “run over as many individuals as he presumably might”, stated New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick.

At that hour, the world would been full of revellers celebrating New 12 months within the French Quarter district, famend for its bars, eating places and jazz historical past.

He was “hell-bent on creating the carnage and the harm that he did”, she added.

“This man, this perpetrator, he fired on our officers from his automobile when he crashed his automobile. Two of our officers have been shot. They’re steady.”
