BETHLEHEM FEELS PAIN OF GAZA WAR

“As Bethlehem lights its Christmas tree, the deep anguish endured by our individuals in Gaza doesn’t go away our hearts”, Bethlehem Mayor Maher Canawati instructed reporters this week.

“The wound of Gaza is our wound, the individuals of Gaza are our individuals, and the sunshine of Christmas has no which means except it first touches the hearts of the bothered, and the oppressed throughout Palestine”.

In Bethlehem, Palestinians mentioned that they have been hopeful that Christmas and the brand new yr would convey peace after two years of what some described as agony and ache. They hoped that Saturday’s ceremony would convey some pleasure for these struggling in Gaza.

“We’re on the lookout for hope”, mentioned Diana Babush, a Palestinian in her 50s from Bethlehem.

“We’re trying that, from this second, peace will prevail. We hope that we will have peace and prosperity”.

In distinction to the time earlier than the warfare in Gaza, there have been no fireworks following the lighting of the Christmas tree, a solemn nod to the uncertainty of the long run.

“It is scary as a result of nobody is aware of what’s going to occur sooner or later. However we’re hopeful”, mentioned Bsoul from Haifa.
