Asos customers throughout the UK have been despatched pop-up messages from its app that seem to have been despatched by hackers making an attempt to extort the corporate.
Dozens of individuals have informed the BBC about receiving an odd message from the clothes and wonder retailer’s app, showing on their cellphone screens.
“Expensive ASOS DPO and IT, we have now totally compromised the Snowflake occasion. Interact with us, or we’ll leak it,” the message reads.
Asos didn’t instantly reply to the BBC’s requests for remark.
On social media, dozens of individuals have posted about receiving the message – confused as to what it means.
Though the obvious extortion message has been issued on to clients, it’s addressed to Asos’ information safety officer (DPO) and IT crew.
The message claims the unnamed hackers have “totally compromised the Snowflake occasion”.
It refers back to the information storage firm Snowflake, whose common instruments have been utilized by dozens of companies for amassing, analysing and storing information.
It isn’t identified if ASOS is a buyer of Snowflake or what information, if any, is saved with the service.
