    TOKYO: An Australian lady died after her backpack caught on a ski raise on a Japanese mountain and she or he grew to become suspended mid-air, police mentioned Monday (Feb 2).

    The 22-year-old lady was getting ready to get off the raise on Friday morning at Tsugaike Mountain Resort in Hakuba Valley, a well-liked ski vacation spot within the central area of Nagano.

    However a free buckle from her backpack grew to become caught within the raise chair, in response to the raise operator, Tsugaike Gondola Carry.

    The girl, who had secured the rucksack with a chest strap, was then dragged by the raise and have become “suspended” mid-air, a spokesman for Nagano regional police informed AFP on customary situation of anonymity.

    “As a result of the chest strap was fixed, the backpack couldn’t be faraway from the (lady’s) physique, and the visitor was dragged together with the backpack after disembarking from the raise,” Tsugaike Gondola Carry’s president Tsuneo Kubo mentioned in a press release.

    “An attendant pressed the cease button to halt the raise. After rescue efforts, the visitor was transported by ambulance to hospital,” he mentioned.

    The girl died in hospital on Sunday, the police spokesman mentioned.

    Kubo mentioned the agency was cooperating with investigators and pledged to enhance its security.

    “We are going to deal with issues with the utmost sincerity for our deceased visitor and her bereaved members of the family,”  he mentioned.

    “We take this example severely and can attempt to function the ski resort with the utmost security measures to make sure our visitors can get pleasure from it with peace of thoughts,” it mentioned.
