    BEIJING: China totally respects Denmark’s sovereignty and territorial integrity on the Greenland concern, International Minister Wang Yi advised his Danish counterpart on Monday (Could 19), urging the European nation to reciprocate over China’s personal sovereignty issues.

    United States President Donald Trump has in latest months insisted that Washington ought to take over the strategically positioned, semi-autonomous Danish territory.

    Beijing hopes Denmark will “proceed to assist China’s official place on points regarding China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”, Wang advised Denmark’s International Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen in Beijing on Monday, in line with a ministry assertion.

    The assembly passed off after Beijing criticised Denmark for hosting former Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen final week, who met Danish lawmakers and gave a speech at a democracy summit in Copenhagen.

    China claims democratically-governed Taiwan as its personal territory. Taiwan’s authorities rejects Beijing’s sovereignty declare.

    Ties between China and Denmark are challenged by the latter’s casual relations with Taiwan and hit a low level in 2009 when the Dalai Lama visited Copenhagen.

    However relations improved after Denmark accepted China’s supply of two pandas as a part of its so-called “panda diplomacy”.

    Each international locations’ cooperation has a big give attention to inexperienced options, with Denmark’s experience in wind energy and environmental options matching China’s urge for food for the inexperienced transition.

    China is keen to deepen financial and commerce cooperation with Denmark, in addition to cooperation in scientific innovation and the inexperienced economic system, Wang advised Rasmussen.

    The 2 sides share a widespread consensus on safeguarding multilateralism and defending free commerce, he stated, including that China is keen to strengthen dialogue and cooperation with the EU.
