After dropping the World Sequence in seven video games to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Toronto Blue Jays determined to make the primary huge signing of the offseason, inking right-hander Dylan Stop to a seven-year, $210 million contract.
Stop, who turns 30 on Dec. 28, was one of many prime arms on the free-agent market and can give the Blue Jays the No. 2 starter they wanted to again their ace, Kevin Gausman.
Stop had one of many worst seasons of his profession in 2025, going 8-12 with a 4.55 ERA in 32 begins and hanging out 215 batters in 168.0 innings. Stop did present up within the playoffs when the San Diego Padres wanted him, pitching 3.2 innings with out permitting a run and hanging out 5 Chicago Cubs within the Nationwide League wild-card spherical.

The Blue Jays are desperate to return to the World Sequence, and including Stop will assist them in that endeavor. Toronto has the 20th-best starters ERA in baseball (4.34), and bringing in Stop offers the crew a stable 1-4 for its rotation.
