    CAIRO: Egypt will host a summit of Arab nations on Feb 27 to debate “the most recent critical developments” in regards to the Palestinian territories, its overseas ministry stated in an announcement on Sunday (Feb 9).

    The “emergency Arab summit” comes as Egypt has been rallying regional assist in opposition to United States President Donald Trump’s plan to relocate Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Egypt and Jordan whereas establishing US management over the coastal territory.

    Sunday’s assertion stated the gathering was known as “after intensive consultations by Egypt on the highest ranges with Arab international locations in latest days, together with Palestine, which requested the summit, to handle the most recent critical developments relating to the Palestinian trigger”.

    That included coordination with Bahrain, which presently chairs the Arab League, the assertion stated.

    On Friday, Egyptian International Minister Badr Abdelatty spoke with regional companions together with Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to shore up opposition to any compelled displacement of Palestinians from their land.

    Final week, Trump floated the concept of US administration over Gaza, envisioning rebuilding the devastated territory into the “Riviera of the Center East” after resettling Palestinians elsewhere, specifically Egypt and Jordan.

    The remarks have prompted world backlash, and Arab international locations have firmly rejected the proposal, insisting on a two-state answer with an impartial Palestinian state alongside Israel.
