Re: “EPA backtracks on Trump comment about cutting staff by 65% but says major spending cuts are coming” (Feb. 27, Nation):

I labored on the Environmental Safety Company for 38 years. How can President Donald Trump even take into consideration chopping 65% of the workers and even about 65% in spending cuts on the company?

Cease cleansing up the Hanford nuclear reservation, the Decrease Duwamish Superfund website, responding to hazardous supplies spills, prosecuting those that knowingly hurt folks? Going again to rivers catching fireplace, properties constructed on poisonous waste dumps, trade releasing limitless quantities of air pollution?

President Richard Nixon created the EPA for superb causes. Bear in mind, there are at all times penalties.

    David Bennett, Edmonds
