Atlanta Falcons edge-rusher James Pearce Jr. has obtained a big suspension from the NFL stemming from his offseason arrest.
The NFL introduced Friday that Pearce has obtained an eight-game suspension for violating the league’s private conduct coverage.
The suspension stems from his offseason arrest following a home dispute with ex-girlfriend and WNBA participant Rickea Jackson.
The Falcons had seemingly been bracing themselves for this information since February. Particulars of Pearce’s arrest in Florida were quite disturbing, and he was accused of deliberately rear-ending Jackson’s automobile to forestall her from reaching a police station. He was later charged with three felonies and a misdemeanor, although one of many felony fees was later dropped. The remaining fees are nonetheless pending.
