    Re: “It’s not lost. It’s changed” (July 10, A1) and “Oregon forest research hub could soon be axed by feds” (July 10, Northwest):

    Lynda Mapes’ elegant entrance web page story in regards to the H.J. Andrews Experimental Forest in Oregon was not solely informative, however bursting with enthusiasm for what scientists are discovering about pure restoration from forest fireplace, and the potential for vital future discoveries at that website. 

    How heartbreaking to then learn Mapes’ report that the Trump administration has proposed slicing the funding for this long-term ecological venture in addition to 25 others nationwide. I can solely think about the frustration and discouragement of the two,000 scientists concerned on this vital work. 

    Thanks for shining a light-weight on this irony.
