Re: “SPD interim Chief Barnes’ defiant words put city at risk” (June 12, Opinion):

Op-ed author Sakara Remmu criticizes interim Seattle Police Chief Shon Barnes for talking out towards the federal administration’s assault on our democracy, claiming that doing so will solely convey higher calamity upon the remainder of us. Calamity is already properly on its approach as this administration has made clear that it’s coming after each metropolis and state led by Democrats.

Hiding beneath metaphorical mattress garments is not going to cease it. We could lose our freedom however should we additionally lose our dignity? Should we write our personal unhappy chapters in “profiles in cowardice”? Historical past’s instructor is unambiguous: When that knock in your door comes in the dead of night of night time, answering “I did nothing; I stated nothing” will avail you exactly that — nothing!
