TEHRAN: Iran’s navy warned on Wednesday (Apr 15) it might block commerce via the Pink Sea, together with the Gulf and Sea of Oman, if the US naval blockade on Iranian ports continues.

In an announcement carried by Iranian state tv, the pinnacle of the navy’s central command centre mentioned if the US continues with its blockade and “creates insecurity for Iran’s industrial vessels and oil tankers”, it’ll additionally represent “a prelude” to violating the ceasefire.

“The highly effective armed forces of the Islamic Republic is not going to enable any exports or imports to proceed within the Persian Gulf, the Sea of Oman, and the Pink Sea,” mentioned Ali Abdollahi.

He added that Iran will “act decisively to defend its nationwide sovereignty and its pursuits”.

The USA has imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports since Monday after US-Iran talks over the weekend in Pakistan failed to supply a deal to finish the conflict.

However maritime monitoring information on Tuesday indicated that a number of ships crusing from Iranian ports had crossed the Strait of Hormuz despite the blockade.

On Wednesday, Iran’s Tasnim information company quoted unnamed knowledgeable sources as saying that transport from Iran’s southern ports had continued.

It added that Iranian “industrial vessels have set sail for numerous locations around the globe” in the course of the previous 24 hours.
