    HAZMIYEH, Lebanon: Israeli strikes hit Beirut’s southern suburbs on Monday (Mar 23), the primary assault on the Hezbollah stronghold in days, as its army mentioned it had captured two members of the Iran-backed group in southern Lebanon.

    An earlier Israeli strike had hit the upscale, predominantly Christian space of Hazmieh close to Beirut, with Israel saying it focused a member of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ overseas operations arm.

    AFPTV’s dwell broadcast confirmed a cloud of smoke over the capital’s southern suburbs, and Lebanon’s state-run Nationwide Information Company reported a number of strikes on the world.

    The Israeli army additionally introduced it was “putting Hezbollah infrastructure in Beirut” after having known as on residents to depart the southern suburbs beforehand.

    Lebanon was pulled into the Center East struggle when Hezbollah started firing rockets into Israel on Mar 2 to avenge the killing of Iran’s supreme chief Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in an Israeli-US assault.

    Israel has since launched strikes throughout Lebanon, killing at least 1,039 people, and despatched floor troops into the nation’s south.

    In a press release on Monday, the Israeli military mentioned that “throughout an exercise to find weapons in southern Lebanon, (Israeli) troops recognized a number of armed Hezbollah Radwan Power terrorists who had been planning to fireside an anti-tank missile”, referring to the group’s commando pressure.

    “After being recognized, the terrorists surrendered. They had been apprehended by the troops and transferred to Israeli territory for additional questioning,” it added.
