    JERUSALEM: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday (Jun 1) ordered the army to assault targets within the Lebanese capital Beirut’s southern suburbs, a Hezbollah stronghold often called Dahiyeh.

    “Following repeated violations of the ceasefire in Lebanon by the terrorist group Hezbollah and the assaults in opposition to our cities and residents, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz ordered the IDF to assault terrorist targets within the Dahiyeh district in Beirut,” an announcement from Netanyahu’s workplace mentioned.

    Israeli troops and Hezbollah have continued to trade fire since a mid-April ceasefire, with Hezbollah resorting to using low-cost, easy-to-assemble kamikaze drones which are laborious for air defences to thwart and which have killed a number of Israeli troops in southern Lebanon.

    The combating in Lebanon has been the broadest spillover of the Iran struggle, displacing greater than 1.2 million Lebanese by means of Israeli strikes and evacuation orders since Mar 2, when Hezbollah started firing rockets and drones into Israel to again its ally Iran.
