    Former New York governor Andrew Cuomo has mentioned he would flip down an endorsement from President Trump within the New York Metropolis mayoral race.

    Some have argued that Trump should endorse Cuomo to try to assist him defeat the Muslim communist candidate Zohran Mamdani.

    Cuomo was first requested about by NBC host Kristen Welker accepting an endorsement from incumbent Mayor Eric Adams, who introduced he was suspending his marketing campaign earlier this week.

    “I might welcome his assist,” Cuomo mentioned. “You realize, it is a normal election, it’s Democrats, Republicans, independents,”

    “I might welcome the mayor’s assist. I’d welcome big-tent assist,” Cuomo added.

    Welker then pressed Cuomo on whether or not he would settle for an endorsement from Trump.

    “The tent isn’t that huge,” he responded. “That’s the limitation.”

    ”I’ve not had a dialog, nor would I settle for an endorsement from President Trump.”

    Whereas Mamdani stays the favourite to prevail in subsequent month’s election, polls have tightened following Adams withdrawal.

    Nonetheless, Cuomo would ideally want Republican candidate Curtis Silwa to drop out the race and win over a big chunk of Republican voters with a purpose to recover from the road.

    Cuomo, who launched his marketing campaign as an unbiased after dropping to Mamdani in a landslide throughout the Democratic major, framed the election as a “very stark alternative between me and Mr. Mamdani.”

    “You realize, it’s apples and oranges,” he mentioned. “We couldn’t be extra completely different. I’m a mainstream Democrat. He’s a fringe Democrat.”

    He additionally criticized Trump’s labelling of Mamdani as a communist, regardless of the actual fact he brazenly identifies as such.

    “He has mentioned, mainly, if Mamdani wins the election, that he would — President Trump would — mainly should take management of New York, as a result of Mamdani isn’t certified,” Cuomo complained.

    “He calls him a communist and that he’s anti-police, etcetera. So he mentioned he would take over New York.”

    Whereas not as dangerously left-wing or ideological as Mamdani, Cuomo nonetheless has his personal appalling file throughout his time as New York governor.

    The 67-year-old, who served from 2011 till 2021 when he was ousted over allegations of sexual harassment, was most infamous for his dealing with of the COVID pandemic.
