    Margaret Thatcher firmly maintained that Marxism or socialism and Christianity had been irreconcilable. For her, Marxism promoted class wrestle, social envy, and dependence on the state—values opposite to the Christian rules of non-public duty, particular person freedom, charity, and human dignity.
