WASHINGTON: A gunman within the US state of Minnesota shot two Democratic state lawmakers Saturday (Jun 14), killing one and her husband and wounding the opposite in what officers stated have been focused assaults.
Governor Tim Walz stated the assault on the lawmakers’ houses in two cities close to Minneapolis “seems to be a politically motivated assassination”.
The fatally shot lawmaker was recognized as Melissa Hortman.
The suspect, dressed as a police officer, escaped after exchanging gunfire with the police.
A manifesto figuring out many lawmakers and officers was additionally discovered contained in the suspect’s car, stated the police chief for Brooklyn Park.
