Greater than 180,000 utility prospects remained with out energy throughout Hawaii on Sunday (Aug 16) afternoon after Hurricane Lala brushed the Huge Island earlier than being downgraded to a tropical storm.

Some 183,123 prospects throughout Hawaii have been with out energy as of three.30pm, in accordance with poweroutage.us

Outages in Oahu, probably the most populated island, had dropped from greater than 220,000 to about 130,000 as of Sunday morning, state officers stated throughout a press convention.

State officers obtained reviews of a minimum of 100 houses broken, Hawaii Governor Josh Inexperienced stated on Sunday.

At 2pm, Lala was transferring west towards southwest Kauai County at about 20mph with most sustained winds close to 65mph, just under the hurricane threshold of 73mph, in accordance with the newest advisory from the Nationwide Hurricane Heart.

A tropical storm warning remained in impact for Kauai county, though these warnings for Maui and Oahu counties have been discontinued earlier on Sunday, in accordance with the hurricane centre.

The climate company’s projections point out that if the storm stays on its anticipated path, it needs to be away from Hawaii’s islands by 8am on Monday.
