    JOHANNESBURG: The youngest son of Zimbabwe’s former chief Robert Mugabe pleaded responsible on Friday (Apr 17) to pointing a gun and illegally being in South Africa however denied taking pictures and badly wounding his gardener after an altercation.

    Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, 29, had been in police custody along with his cousin and co-accused, Tobias Mugabe Matonhodze, on tried homicide expenses following the incident in Johannesburg’s posh Hyde Park district.

    Mugabe pleaded responsible to being in South Africa illegally and pointing a gun in a separate incident, whereas Matonhodze pleaded responsible to tried homicide.

    Matonhodze, 32, additionally admitted to contravening immigration and firearm legal guidelines.

    “We had initially engaged with the state with the intention of finalising a plea and sentencing settlement however these discussions collapsed on the final minute,” Mugabe’s counsel Sinenhlanhla Mnguni mentioned. 

    He dismissed solutions that Matonhodze was taking the autumn for Mugabe, calling the claims “very ludicrous.”

    The firearm used within the taking pictures has not been recovered for the reason that two had been arrested on Feb 19. 

    The case was adjourned to Apr 24.

    Bellarmine is one among two sons that Robert Mugabe had along with his second spouse Grace. The brothers have at instances lived in Johannesburg, the place they’ve gained a status for partying and residing the excessive life.

    Mugabe, who died in 2019, was in energy for 37 years earlier than he was ousted in a 2017 coup.
