    The son of Uganda’s newly re-elected President Yoweri Museveni has threatened to kill singer-turned-opposition chief Bobi Wine, who has been in hiding since final week’s election, which he’s disputing the outcomes of.

    Uganda’s Common Muhoozi Kainerugaba issued the menace on Tuesday simply days after Museveni, 81, was declared winner of a seventh term as president in an election declared a “sham” by the opposition over claims of fraudulent votes.

    In an interview with Al Jazeera, Wine claimed he has “proof” of election fraud, together with movies purporting to indicate election fee officers filling in poll papers in favour of Museveni.

    A spokesperson from the Electoral Fee of Uganda declined to talk to Al Jazeera about this allegation.

    “We now have killed 22 NUP terrorists since final week,” Kainerugaba wrote on X Tuesday, referring to the opposition Nationwide Unity Platform, led by Wine, who got here second within the poll.

    In his personal posts, Wine criticised Kainerugaba’s “threats to kill me” and demanded the navy vacate his compound, including: “My spouse and individuals are not protected.”

    In his interview with Al Jazeera, Wine stated his “purpose for not being house is to have the ability to converse to the world” and added, “if I used to be in my home, you wouldn’t be capable of entry me”.

    He additionally hit again at being branded a “terrorist”.

    “It needs to be identified that in each dictatorship, particularly right here in Africa, to run towards a dictator means being a ‘terrorist’, means being a traitor and every part,” stated Wine.
