    Re: “National Guard in D.C.: ‘Trying to stop the bleeding’ ” (Aug. 14, Northwest Voices):

    The Trump administration withheld $1 billion from the Washington, D.C., authorities. Whereas about half of that has been restored, that cash would or ought to have gone to hiring extra cops.

    D.C.’s crime isn’t within the High 30 crime cities, in keeping with Newsweek journal.
