Re: “ ‘No Kings’ rally draws crowd over a mile long” (Oct. 19, A1):

I attended the “No Kings” rally and march in Seattle on Saturday together with 1000’s of others. It was unclear to me simply what particular calls for and intentions had been a part of this unprecedented nationwide organizing effort, with greater than 2,600 protests throughout the nation. What was clear to me is that the official Democratic Social gathering equipment had no obvious management function within the large nationwide organizing effort, nor a lot of an lively, on-the-ground presence within the carnivallike parades. Apart from a number of audio system, mainstream Democrats had been lacking in motion. One can solely speculate why the historic “celebration of the individuals” was largely a no-show.

With the bottom approval ranking in over 30 years, Democrats could have missed a golden alternative to shore up their ranks and show actual grassroots management.

    Peter Steinbrueck, Seattle
