    The struggles New England Patriots
quarterback Drake Maye endured over the primary three weeks of this season generated each predictable and unexpected headlines following the membership’s 35-6 blowout loss on the Jacksonville Jaguars that dropped New England to 1-2 on Sept. 27.

Some have implied that Maye is dealing with “a psychological factor,” such because the so-called “yips.” Whereas talking with reporters on Thursday, Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels addressed this specific Maye idea.

“No yips” for Drake Maye amid poor play?

In response to Mike Florio of Professional Soccer Discuss, McDaniels shared that Maye has “no yips” this fall.

“I’ve performed golf with him, pickleball with him,” McDaniels stated about Maye. “I’ve watched him play soccer, and I’m not likely certain what adjustments that for him. He’s blessed in that regard, you realize? Once I hit a tee shot within the woods, my confidence is shattered, you realize, after which I’m gonna do it time and again and once more. He doesn’t actually try this. He can try this, after which the subsequent one’s down the center, it’s 340 [yards], and also you’re sitting there going, ‘How did that occur?’ And I feel his mindset is — and it’s the best way you must be as a quarterback.”

This previous Monday, Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel raised some eyebrows when he said that he “cannot manufacture confidence” for Maye and that “confidence comes out of your preparation.” Later within the week, Vrabel and Maye each instructed {that a} rumor claiming there was a rift between them just isn’t correct.

That is all properly and good, however the numbers present that Maye heads into the primary weekend of October liable for a league-worst seven complete turnovers on the season. He’ll look to keep away from committing expensive giveaways when the Patriots play on the rival Buffalo Bills (3-0) this coming Sunday.

Drake Maye not letting errors “weigh on” him

“Sure, there are issues that we are able to do higher,” McDaniels continued throughout his feedback about Maye. “Sure, there are issues that we are able to work on to attempt to make among the unfavorable situations that we’ve had occur go away, you realize, and that’s what he’s targeted on, you realize? However his demeanor, his countenance, his facial expressions, his capability to interject issues within the conferences has not modified, you realize? And, you realize, and I really like that in regards to the child. I feel, like I stated, he’s blessed in that regard, as a result of I feel there’s, you realize, there’s those that generally let these issues weigh on them.”

Maye insists a throwing-shoulder challenge that popped up on the crew’s official injury report is not impacting his decision-making or how he throws footballs towards stay defenses. Nonetheless, it might be fascinating to see what’s and is not stated about that potential setback following New England’s matchup at Buffalo’s Highmark Stadium.
