    Thanks for the editorial “The Northwest power grid may soon max out. We must act” (Might 4, Opinion). Elevating consciousness of this crucial want is necessary. Elementary options embody extra demand-side sources and including superior know-how to broaden use of current transmission infrastructure.

    Past these important options, our future grid is like filling up a restricted container with rocks: You do massive rocks first. For Washington, that’s extra capability over the Cascades so demand alongside the Interstate 5 hall can use renewable sources to the East. Equally necessary is bigger connectivity with the bountiful, numerous and highly effective wind sources in Montana which might be crucial to satisfy our clean-energy targets.

    The Bonneville Energy Administration and our main utilities have acknowledged these wants for many years, however concern of the issues concerned hold delaying these most necessary transmission initiatives within the state.
