When St. John’s employed Rick Pitino previous to the 2023-24 season they had been hoping one among school basketball’s most profitable coaches might work his magic and return this system to relevance. Three years into the experiment, it’s fairly clear that he has. They now rule the Massive East and have firmly established themselves as a reliable contender going into the NCAA event.

St. John’s wins one other Massive East title

Due to their dominant 72-52 win over No. 6 UConn on Saturday, the No. 15 ranked Crimson Storm received their second consecutive Massive East convention event below Pitino’s watch.

Much more, they grew to become the primary workforce to ever win the Massive East common season championship and convention event in consecutive seasons.

Total St. John’s is 59-11 over the previous two years and 79-24 general below Pitino and can now be going to its second consecutive NCAA event.

It’s a enormous turnaround for a program that had fallen out of relevance for the higher a part of the 20 years that preceded Pitino’s arrival. They’d certified for the NCAA event simply 4 instances within the 23 years previous to Pitino’s rent.

Pitino is without doubt one of the giants in school basketball teaching, and has received nationwide championships with two completely different packages and been aggressive just about in all places he has been. He’s doing it once more. The following problem goes to be taking the subsequent step and discovering main success within the NCAA event. If he does that right here it’s going to solely add to his legacy.
