    WASHINGTON: United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on Wednesday (Could 28) that the US will begin revoking visas of Chinese language college students, together with these with connections to the Chinese language Communist Get together or finding out in essential fields.

    US President Donald Trump’s administration will “aggressively revoke visas for Chinese language college students, together with these with connections to the Chinese language Communist Get together or finding out in essential fields”, Rubio stated in a press release.

    He added that the division may even revise visa standards to reinforce scrutiny of all future visa purposes from China and Hong Kong.

    The Chinese language Embassy in Washington didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark.

    China had the second highest variety of worldwide college students pursuing larger training within the US within the 2023/2024 college 12 months, with 277,398 college students, in keeping with the Institute of Worldwide Schooling.

    On Tuesday, it was reported that the US Division of State had halted new appointments for scholar and trade customer visa candidates.

    The Trump administration has expanded social media vetting of international college students and is in search of to ramp up deportations and revoke scholar visas as a part of its wide-ranging efforts to fulfil his hardline immigration agenda.
