Re: “Musk eyes Social Security and benefit programs for cuts while claiming widespread fraud” (March 10, Nation):

Elon Musk has no proper to even think about touching Social Safety. I used to be required to, and willingly paid into, this system for 50 years. For many years, as a small-business proprietor I paid each employer and worker parts.

Social Safety is a vital a part of our long-term retirement financial savings. We invested in this system for many years, and are actually receiving the advantages we have been promised. For many people, Social Safety is the one supply of funds that permits us to stay housed, fed and in any other case protected.  As well as, there’s ample proof that this system is already extremely environment friendly and well-run.

Musk and cowardly members of Congress haven’t any clue as to the wrath and disruption any cuts would trigger. Does anybody in Congress need retirees immediately going through homelessness as a result of we can’t pay our lease? Maybe Congress is keen to see mileslong strains at meals banks? Or maybe they need us to hunt all our medical care at emergency rooms as a result of we will not pay our Medicare premiums and due to this fact lack medical health insurance?

Congress: Develop a backbone and begin behaving rationally!

    Karen Goncalves, Bellevue
