    MADRID: Spain’s authorities on Wednesday (Might 28) denied a press report that an “experiment” on the nationwide energy grid brought on a huge blackout that crippled the Iberian Peninsula one month in the past.

    Authorities have been scrambling to search out solutions after the Apr 28 outage lower telecommunications, halted transport and plunged cities into darkness throughout Spain and Portugal.

    Conservative British each day newspaper The Telegraph reported on Friday, citing unnamed sources in Brussels, that Spanish authorities “have been conducting an experiment earlier than the system crashed, probing how far they may push reliance on renewables in preparation for Spain’s rushed phase-out of nuclear reactors from 2027”.

    “The federal government appears to have pushed the tempo recklessly, earlier than making the mandatory investments in a classy Twenty first-century good grid able to dealing with it,” it added.

    Requested concerning the report in parliament, Ecological Transition Minister Sara Aagesen stated: “It’s false, completely false, that the federal government carried out any type of experiment on the grid previous to the outage.”

    “It’s irresponsible to assign blame whereas the reason for the blackout stays below investigation. And it’s equally irresponsible to assert that the federal government was conducting experiments,” she added.

    As an alternative she stated it seems that producers of “typical” vitality equivalent to fuel, nuclear and hydro vegetation “didn’t correctly regulate voltage” on the day of the outage.

    She didn’t say if this performed a direct position within the blackout.
