    Taipei says an estimated 15 Chinese language plane crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait on Friday.

    Taiwan‘s defence ministry says that it has detected greater than 70 Chinese language army plane across the island within the final 24 hours, simply days after a British naval vessel sailed via the delicate Taiwan Strait.

    The newest sightings reported on Friday come as Beijing continues to ramp up the deployment of fighter jets and naval vessels round Taiwan in current months to press its declare of sovereignty of the island, which Taipei rejects.

    Together with 50 plane, six Chinese language naval vessels have been detected within the 24 hours to 6am on Friday (22:00 GMT on Thursday), the defence ministry stated.

    An extra 24 Chinese language plane, together with fighters and drones, have been noticed since 08:50am (00:50 GMT) on Friday, the ministry stated in a separate assertion.

    Among the many second batch of plane, 15 crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait in conducting air-sea joint coaching with Chinese language naval vessels, the ministry stated, including it “monitored the scenario and responded accordingly”.

    China insists that democratic, self-ruled Taiwan is a part of its territory and has threatened to make use of power to carry the island below its management. Taiwan has allied itself with the US, angering Beijing.

    In April, Taiwan detected 76 Chinese language plane and 15 naval vessels across the island, when Beijing performed live-fire workouts that included simulated strikes aimed on the island’s key ports and power websites.

    The best variety of Chinese language plane recorded was 153 on October 15, 2024, after China staged large-scale army drills in response to a speech by Taiwan’s President William Lai Ching-te on Nationwide Day, days earlier.
