    WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump is ready to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and officers from each nations are working to arrange a gathering, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent mentioned on Wednesday (Oct 15).

    Bessent informed CNBC that the US didn’t need to escalate a battle with China, and didn’t need to decouple from the second-largest financial system on this planet.

    He mentioned it was because of the belief between Trump and Xi that the commerce battle between the 2 nations has not escalated additional.

    The leaders of the world’s two greatest economies are anticipated to fulfill on the Asia-Pacific Financial Cooperation (APEC) summit beginning later this month.

    However Trump last week threatened to cancel the planned meeting with Xi after China unveiled fresh controls on the export of rare earth applied sciences and objects.

    Bessent maintained that “President Trump is a ‘go’ on that,” stressing to CNBC that each leaders have “a wonderful relationship”.

    The US and China are holding working-level talks as effectively on the sidelines of the Worldwide Financial Fund and World Financial institution’s annual conferences, Bessent added.

    “I am optimistic. We at the moment are speaking at (a) very excessive degree,” Bessent mentioned at an occasion organised by CNBC. “There have been many outreaches.”
