Aggressive US immigration raids, which have sparked protests and allegations of rights violations, haven’t gone far sufficient, President Donald Trump mentioned in a CBS interview launched Sunday (Nov 2).

Trump was interviewed on Friday by CBS’s 60 Minutes program, his first sit-down with the broadcaster because it agreed to a US$16 million settlement with him.

The Republican president had sued the Paramount-owned organisation over a 2024 pre-election interview together with his Democratic opponent, former vice chairman Kamala Harris.

Requested by interviewer Norah O’Donnell if raids performed by his Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) brokers have “gone too far”, the 79-year-old president replied: “I feel they have not gone far sufficient.”

He claimed “liberal judges” appointed by Democratic presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden had “held again” immigration operations, in keeping with the interview extract posted on X.

O’Donnell famous documented situations of ICE brokers tackling suspected immigrants, deploying tear gasoline in neighbourhoods and smashing open automobile home windows.

“You are okay with these techniques?” she requested.

“Yeah, as a result of it’s a must to get the individuals out,” Trump mentioned.
