    UAE says Iran targeted tanker as Oman cites progress in Hormuz talks

    REOPENING UNCERTAIN

    Iranian Overseas Minister Abbas Araghchi mentioned that talks with Oman had been “approaching the ultimate levels”, however cautioned that “this isn’t an indication of the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz”.

    “The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is topic to different circumstances and compensation for the violation of the memorandum of understanding by the USA,” he mentioned, referencing the June deal.

    Iranian safety chief Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr on Saturday laid out a laundry checklist of preconditions for reopening the strait, together with an finish to the “warfare and aggression in opposition to Iran and its allies in Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen, and Iraq”.

    He additionally demanded the lifting of a parallel US naval blockade of Iran, the tip of sanctions, the discharge of frozen property, and compensation for wartime harm, based on remarks reported by Tasnim information company.

    The Revolutionary Guards, the ideological arm of the Iranian navy, underscored the purpose, saying Hormuz’s reopening had “nothing to do with the negotiations between Iran and Oman”, including that the “enemy is compelled to just accept Iran’s circumstances for the opening of the strait”.

    In the meantime, Israel’s public broadcaster reported that US Admiral Brad Cooper – head of US Central Command, which leads Center East operations – paid fast visits to Gulf allies the UAE and Bahrain, in addition to Israel.

    Cooper reportedly met with Israeli navy chief Eyal Zamir, Kan mentioned, describing the go to as a “multi-front state of affairs evaluation”.
